Kitchen Styles
Choosing a style for your kitchen is sometimes a difficult decision, particularly with the wide range of quality products and versatile materials available on the market today. When deciding on a new look for your kitchen consider the following questions regarding the choice of material, texture, colour, style and finish for your kitchen:
- What style or look do you wish to achieve?
- What colours, shades and textures best suit the kitchen as a whole?
- Will the kitchen surfaces, colours and style compliment and blend with the rest of the house?
- Will the surfaces be easy to look after and clean?
- Will the surfaces stand up to wear and tear over the period of time?
The various surfaces within the kitchen, each have a particular function and purpose, so the type of materials you choose, may vary considerably throughout the kitchen, in particular when considering benchtops, cabinets, shelving, drawers, floor, walls, ceiling, handles, appliances and lighting. Consider mixing the materials to give a blend of images and the overall effect that will be very pleasing to the eye e.g. cool and sleek stainless steel; high gloss glass, durable laminate; the warmth of timber; shiny marble or textured tiles.
